How to get traffic from Pinterest
#1 Install Rich Pins
A rich pin is a form of a pin that you can install yourself with this simple tutorial. It will make your pins look more professional and SEO friendly. This means that the pin shows up higher in the Pinterest search result and therefore gets more clicks. After installing the rich pins, your pin will show the title above the Picture, the content under the pin (like recipe, or price) and will update automatically.
#2 Include Keywords to your Profile, Title and Pin Description
The title of your pin equals the title of your post. So you need to think about your title before you even write the post. You want to make sure to include keywords so that readers find your pin and your pin will rank high on Pinterest (and google). You can find these keywords by typing one word (that fits most to your post) into the Pinterest search bar. For example, if my post is about organizing then you will see these word suggestions:
The word to the left is the most searched word in combination with “organizing”. Include these Keywords in your title and pin description. It is also a good idea to add keywords that are searched often into your profile description!
#3 Include a Call to Action in your Blogpost
What increases the shares from a blog post most is a simple call to action. That means you tell people to share the post on Pinterest or to follow you on Pinterest and link this call to action to your pin/profile like in the picture below.
The best place for a call to action is at the point where the reader makes a decision. Either before a tutorial/recipe or after. Before a recipe box people either cook it right away or they have decided that they like it enough to save for later. (It is a good idea to add the pinnable picture right under this CTA)
#4 Join Group Boards
Group boards are boards where multiple people can pin on the same board. You can even create your own group board and invite people to join.
If you would like to join a group board, there are different ways to do so. I am teaching 2 ways to find the right group boards and 3 ways to apply to group boards in this course.
Keep in mind, that you have to make sure to follow the group board rules, once you got accepted. Group boards are a huge traffic source because you get your content in front of a whole new group of people, that are not your followers (yet).
The more group boards the better, but you should select quality boards too!
#5 Gain more Followers
A good way to gain more followers on Pinterest is to follow them first. If you follow them and/or re-pin their content they are likely to follow back/re-pin you too. You want to attract the right followers though, which means you want followers that really like your content and remain your follower. The right followers will keep re-pinning your content!
#6 Join Facebook groups
To get more traffic from Pinterest, there are Facebook groups that you can join where you swap pins. You will share a pin on a thread and also re-pin the other pins in the thread. Here are some groups to join:
You can search for more groups like these on facebook. You should participate in one thread per day, or as often as you can.

Why is PIN branding important?
Branding is so important, because it makes your pins look similar, so your fans will recognize YOUR pins and are more likely to click on it. It also makes your pins look more professional and your boards clean and clutter free.
When I branded all my recipe pins I immediately doubled my traffic in 4 days!
So pick 2 or 3 colors that represent your brand and stick to a similar picture/font for every pin. Check out my pins as an example

With the right pinning strategy you will gain a lot more pageviews. You can pin manually or automated. I pinned manually in my first 2 months of blogging and then switched over to BoardBooster to automate my pins. This saved me so much time! You can read this full BoardBooster tutorial to set up a pinning strategy. This pinning strategy is very effective and if you decide not to use the program yet, you can just copy the strategy and pin manually.
